Hi, my name is Rob Lewis. I’m one of the dentists here at Crownbank Dental, and my main area of professional focus is on periodontitis — which is the fancy term for gum disease.

0:13
Gum disease is one of the most common reasons that patients lose their teeth, and so my role here is to help patients maintain their gum health for as long as possible, so they can keep their teeth for as long as possible.

I also help patients to get their oral health in check prior to other procedures — for example, having a dental implant.

0:33
Gum disease management starts at home, and the most important factor is your own plaque removal. That’s why a big part of the treatment that I offer is helping to make sure that patients’ oral hygiene is absolutely excellent, and helping them to feel confident and able to clean around all of the nooks and crannies that they need to.

From there, once that’s established, we can look to clean the areas that the patients can’t quite reach.

Gum disease management is something that is long-term. It requires long-term, lifelong maintenance care.

In my spare time, I’m really passionate about music — I play guitar and saxophone, and I love going to watch bands at gigs.

1:15
I also enjoy holidaying with my family, and particularly, we like traveling to the Lake District.

Following his foundation training, Rob worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at Rotherham Hospital, where he gained experience in oral surgery. During this time, he achieved his Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery.

Rob has always been a firm believer that healthy gums are the foundation for all dental health, and this is where his passion lies. He completed a Masters Degree from the University of Central Lancashire in 2022, graduating with distinction. This gave him training in the management of complex gum disease, allowing him to help patients to save teeth which may otherwise have been lost.

Rob is a friendly and compassionate clinician, who works closely with his patients to empower them to maintain their gum health.

In his spare time, Rob enjoys spending time with his family. He is a keen music fan, and plays guitar and saxophone.
