What are veneers?

Veneers offer a quick and simple way to improve your smile by giving your teeth a natural and healthy appearance. Veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth. This technique involves adhering a thin layer of porcelain over the front of the tooth to cover discolouration, chips or irregularly shaped teeth.

How long does the procedure take?

The preparation of the teeth involves at least one appointment to remove the shiny outer layer of the enamel and to take a mould of your teeth. In between appointments temporary veneers are made to cover the teeth whilst the dental laboratory produce the porcelain veneers. At the second appointment the veneers are adhered to the teeth to give a long-lasting harmonious result that will brighten your smile for years to come.

What are the alternative options?

In some cases, the appearance of your smile can be improved using other methods. Short term orthodontic procedures and tooth whitening can also improve the appearance of your teeth without procedures to remove the enamel of the tooth. Sometimes small irregularities can be repaired by using a tooth-coloured composite filling material; however, this option may not work as well to mask discolouration and may not be as durable when replacing tooth edges or chipped corners. Not all teeth are suitable for veneers – some teeth may require a crown to provide additional strength, this is particularly the case after root canal treatment.

How much do veneers cost?

The cost for veneers depends on the number required to improve your smile and the material used to make the veneers. For further information on the cost of veneers, please refer to our price list.
